How To Trust In The Lord With All Your Heart

Jonah and the plant
And the Lord God prepared a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be shade for his head to deliver him from his misery. So Jonah was very grateful for the plant. (Jonah 4:6)

The education of our faith is incomplete until we learn that Gods providence works through loss, Mr. Jonah was happy when God provided plant to shelter him from the scorch of the sun, he was happy and grateful for the plant. He relaxed and continue his mission to see what would become the end of Nineveh.

Jonah was grateful to the plant but not to God. He trusted in the gift and not in the giver, but then, the unexpected happen to him:

“But as morning dawned the next day God prepared a worm, and it so damaged the plant that it withered.”(..v 7)

Jonah was not expecting the plant to wither  soon, he was not expecting a dramatic change. He is okay with his condition at that particular time. But God has something he want Jonah to learn from which made him to prepare the plant.

Rat Race
Many of us are still caught in this rat race Jonah found himself – Oh I waited for five years before I got pregnant, so I cannot afford to leave my child for any crusade. Oh I searched for years before I got this job and I must do everything to keep it, whatever solution I get anywhere will be welcome as long as I hold on to this or that.

From the story in the book ''who moved my cheese'', those characters in that book also caught up in misplacing their hope, they trusted in that particular location where they had huge cheese that will never finish in their own eye. All these are just illusion and misplacing our priority and Divine order.

Entrusting hope in mortal or any other thing beside God is vanity or is like holding an egg that is already broken. Putting hope in human being or let say President or Governor, even your friend is not healthy at all.

Anything could happen to them, but if it is in Ancient of days who knows the end from the beginning, be rest assured that victory is yours.

Trust God with all your heart
Brethren, let us learn from Mr Jonah and the plant, lets not rely on the plant that cover us (the plant can represent any good thing you solely place your entire life on) instead, we should have undiluted loyalty and strong faith in the Maker who know the purpose or reason He created you and also spared your life even till now.

Let us all hope in the Lord God that prepared the plant, it is better to hope in the Lord because if He decide to take away something from us, it is to pave way for better things to arrive. Alleluyah somebody.

May the Lord God have mercy on us and help us to obey Him so that His will and perfect purpose will come to fulfilment in our lives. Amen

God bless you.
