Building Neighbourliness Part II

Early Morning With God (EMWG).
Morning Devotion from the Desk of Emma Deekor:

Bible Reading: Luke 10:33-36.

Text: Luke 10:33 KJV
"But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,"

Good day once again. Let us continue from where we stopped yesterday on building good neighbour relationships wherever we find ourselves. It is a command from God, so we should take it serious.

Building neighbourliness goes to show so many things among the following:

i) That you are showing God's love (I John 4:10). Remember God first loved us and gave his only begotten son to die for us (John 3:16). So, build that good relationship with someone today.

ii) That you are merciful and gracious. Grace is what takes the seed of love and sow it right in the heart (Phi. 2:13). From your own heart to the life of the fellow you are building relationship with. No one gives what he/she does not have. Fill your heart with love.

iii) That you are compassionate and empathetic. The story of the good Samaritan in our Bible Reading is a clear demonstration of compassion and empathy. There were three people that came the way of the fellow that was robbed but only one who is even a stranger helped. Jesus asked in Luke 10:36 KJV
"Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?"
Why did the other two not help?

iv) That you are looking out for the well being of your neighbours. Like I said yesterday, some people are not lovable but the character of love as discussed in 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 will help you overcome the temptation to have reasons not to help. Love is kind, patient, does not keep record of offenses and it forgives easily.

v) That you are ready and willing to serve those neighbours. Good neighbourliness is service to humanity. Jesus said in Matthew 20:28 that He came to serve and not to be served. In like manner building good relationship is a servant attitude.

God willing we continue tomorrow. Build a good relationship from today.

Remain blessed.
