Bible Reading: I Pet. 1:18-23

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

The new creature in Christ is that fellow whose heart has encountered Christ. He or she has received Christ into his/her life and now becomes a child of God ( John 1:12). The new creature is regenerated in every area of life.

What are the signs that you are now a new creature in Christ Jesus?

i). A sanctified life

The new man has a sanctified life - separated unto God completely. This life is displayed in all he/she does: in business, career, church, in the community and at home. The new man is transformed and works only in the will of God, Rom. 12:1-2.

ii) A new life in Jesus Christ is a justified life. He is declared righteous as if he had not sinned. Two things happened at justification: the first is that sin is forgiven and punishment is removed Micah 7:18-19. Secondly, the righteousness of Jesus is credited to the sinner's account, Rom. 3:22, I Cor. 6.20, Col. 3:9-11.

iii) The new creature in Christ lives a Holy Ghost controlled life. The new man's life is patterned after and controlled by the Holy Spirit. The new man will receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon him/her, Acts 1:8, 2:1-4.

This power helps the new creature to have:

- power over sin Gal.5:16, Ron. 8:2

- power to witness for Christ Acts 1:8, Mark 16:15-16, and 

- power over the demons Mark 16:17-18.

You cannot do these things on your own, Zach. 4:6. You need God's grace and strength embedded in His word. It is God's grace that will establish and make you perfect as a new creature. This comes when you surrender to Jesus Christ. Do so today if  you are yet to, please. May God help you.
